During the last forty years, I’ve built up unrivalled experience of writing and picture-researching historical publications. I’ve produced around 50 published books on historical and folklore subjects, and well over 200 guidebooks and pamphlets for English Heritage, Cadw and several local authorities and tourism boards. 

These include illustrated guides to many castles, great houses, churches, and other historical monuments, and regional guides to several areas of England and Wales.  

I’ve also contributed numerous magazine articles on historic interiors and historical interpretation.  

All are founded on meticulous research, but written in a style that is engaging without being condescending or dumbed down.
